Styling A Dress As A Skirt

HELLO LOVELIES!
I am very happy because summer has officially arrived! Cute dresses and skirts that I have been hoarding around can finally be worn.
If you are new to my blog, welcome stylish babe and keep on reading :)

This post in particular is fun for me because as mentioned in other posts, styling is always experimenting with fashion, you discover how to play with clothing items at the moment most of the time.

I just recently returned from a trip to Jamaica, where I got an extreme sunburn, I'm still peeling and it's about to be a month since our return. So although I am excited for summer to be here I am also annoyed I can't really wear all the things I want at the moment because of my skin peeling.
This is why I have had to make use of my long sleeved tops in a fashionable way.

Some of my girls and I planned to enjoy this nice day for a photo-shoot and I was such in a mood to wear a dress, I thought of this one and was immediately annoyed remembering my sunburn. How was I going to style this strapless maxi dress, especially for a photo shoot? I have seen this done many times, styling t-shirts with dresses or even spaghetti strapped tops, just hadn't tried it myself. I could have easily chosen a black t-shirt (if that even exists in my closet) to blend in with the dress but the white would make the flowers on the dress pop and give the dress a great contrast overall. White it is!

Still not happy since it was nice and sunny outside, but lets face it, I've had enough sun, more than enough. I got more creative and decided, well instead of having the dress cover most of the t-shirt lets turn it into a skirt! Since it's strapless and a bit more fitted around the bust area I folded it inwards. Try to do one fold inwards as it will avoid adding more layers of fabric around the waist once turned into a skirt. If there is no elastic band for support around the waist you can use a waist belt once folded over to support it from falling. You can even use the top to layer over the waist of the now skirt to hide any possible slip ups... well more like slip downs.

I love pieces that you can play around with to use in multiple ways, comes in handy for situations like long days, photo-shoots, traveling etc. I'd say I actually will try this more often and try to get creative on clothing pieces that can be turned into different looks, all-in-one package deal.

I hope this inspired you to think of some dresses you may have in your closet that can be styled as a skirt as well! Comment below on which look you prefer here, skirt or t-shirt under dress?

Until next time :)
