Petite & Wearing Oversized Coats

Petite style isn’t an easy thing to achieve, you tend to feel limited and although you may think that the primary thing to avoid is bulky oversized clothing to not overpower you, think again. I have been loving the oversized clothing trend, or maybe I keep finding the cutest thing bigger than my size. This coat is definitely one of them, as this becomes repetitive I will continue to say it, I am a magnet to color.

I went to the thrift store and there was no way I was leaving this coat behind, I was disappointed at first to discover it was like 4 sizes more than my own but I loved the color let alone the price!! It ended up being $3!!! A colorful, good quality coat for $3? Leave it behind?

Yeah right.

An easy way to start wearing oversized without having it overpower you is wear solid colors under, this will help attract attention to the whole outfit overall with the coat being a statement piece rather than a disturbance. I decided to go a little crazy with color combination but that’s me, I felt since the coat is such a bold color I wanted to emphasize it.

Another thing you can do is wear a belt around your coat, a thin one rather than a bulky tight one, this will make it seem like a stylish accessory and will slim it down in case you feel it’s just too big.

One of my favorites and easiest is wearing oversized clothing with a dress or skirt making the coat appear as a dress itself, adding flare and style to it alone.

Finally, you can never go wrong with heels, especially when you are petite and have an oversized clothing piece. The heels become essential because the extra height will take away from the oversized coat and again make it look like a statement piece.
