Wearing Mermaid Skirts in the Fall

This has to be one of those outfits where I think outside the box and try to leave my comfort zone once again. Who would think, mermaid skirts and cropped tops? I love it. 

I sometimes have these clothing pieces that really attract my attention because of their style, details, or how unique it might be so then my mission is to style according to that clothing piece. I am not going to lie but I have had this skirt for a couple of years and I had bought simply because I loved the mermaid styled skirt but never felt like I could wear it... how silly of me. I recently came about this skirt and fell in love with it once again, immediately wanting to set an outfit up for it, I figured since it's fall I may just need to pull it out again in the spring, good thing I stopped myself because it's about time I wore it. 

Next challenge was "how do we wear mermaid silk skirts in the fall?" 

A sweater came to mind but wasn't sure how a cotton material would look with a silk skirt that appears to be only wearable to elegant occasions, but I also didn't want a coat to hide the skirt so when a cropped sweater came into mind I was excited to see the result. VOILA!
